Past Activities of RAHAT

A three and a half decade journey of mental health awareness, services, advocacy and public engagement in India. The organisation has developed and disseminated educational resources for students, families, and professionals; engaged in media outreach through print, television, and digital platforms; and contributed to nationally recognised audio-visual productions to expand public understanding of mental health.

Its work has also included community outreach programmes, substance use prevention initiatives, and the provision of counselling services, alongside structured training and capacity-building efforts for educators, caregivers, and community members. Through participation in conferences, partnerships with national and international organisations, and contributions to research and advocacy, RAHAT has consistently worked towards reducing stigma and strengthening accessible, inclusive mental health support systems across diverse communities.

We have developed and shared accessible mental health resources-ranging from pamphlets and booklets to audio materials-addressing concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. These resources have reached students, parents, educators, and communities through schools, colleges, hospitals, and public platforms, including free audio tools for stress management.

Our outreach has extended through print, television, and digital media, including collaborations with national broadcasters like Doordarshan, as well as through nationally recognised audio-visual productions such as Mindwatch and other public health series. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these resources were acknowledged by the World Psychiatric Association as trusted sources of mental health information.

At the community level, RAHAT has led awareness and prevention initiatives addressing substance use, while also providing free counselling services supported by trained professionals. Our training and capacity-building programmes have empowered educators, caregivers, and community workers with essential skills in mental health awareness and support.

Through conferences, seminars, and collaborations with organisations and global partners, we have contributed to ongoing dialogue, research, and advocacy in the field of mental health. Our work has also been part of international initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and strengthening mental health systems.

Across all our efforts, we remain committed to reaching diverse communities with inclusivity, ensuring that mental health support is accessible to all-without barriers.
